Youth Conference

For Youth Conference this year it was just our ward and we had activities around the valley instead of heading somewhere, which turned out well because I got to sleep in my own bed. I feel like I've been on a spiritual high this summer with everything I've been able to participate in. I wasn't able to attend on Friday due to a wedding, but Saturday we went down town and weeded Memory Grove. It was funny because the kids kept saying "which ones are weeds?" Then we had multiple activities around Temple Square including the Joseph Smith movie which was really good. The picture below is during a scavenger hunt that we had to take pictures of certain things around Temple Square.

The activity Saturday night was my favorite. We told the kids we were doing relay races or something, but what we really did was blindfold them and made them hold on to the rope. The only rule was to Hold On To the Rope! Well, little did they know tempters were in place to get them off the rope. Gregg and I got to be the tempters. We were actually very successful by using phrases like "good job you're done," or "your mom/sibling needs you." Once they let go they had to sit there until the bishop came and led them back to the rope. It was a really cool object lesson. Below you see Gregg trying to offer money to one of the kids in his Sunday School class. It was my favorite picture of the whole thing. (Thanks to the Matsumori's for taking pictures.)

What's with the fly?

Why do I always have sunglasses on? Looking back on a lot of pics I realized my eyes hardly show and that can be very scary sometimes. Well people...since I had lasik I've been very careful to keep UV rays away from my eyeballs. Also, my eyes are more sensitive to the sun now and since I was a pretty bad case I want to keep my eyes healthy as long as possible. Plus, I just love huge sunglasses!

Girl's camp Pt2

Yay, I found my camera! Well if I'm being honest Gregg found it. Here are a few fun pics from camp I thought I'd share. Over to my left is Camille another leader. We are always getting mistaken for one of the girls. Below is Senor Frog. His head was later found on the top of the flag pole.

This is one of the girls holding an award from the stake leaders that got traded around all camp. It was a (generic) care bear because we were so caring that day. It had creepy hair on top which I cut off and made a mustache and some arm pit hair. Needless to say our ward did not get any more awards the rest of the time.

This is most of the girls waiting our turn for the skit. I was a pirate and if you look close I had a mustache! :)
This is just some random pic. Haha.

YaY, we have married friends!

Not to offend anyone, because I have plenty of married friends, but this is around the first of Gregg's friends that we're close to that have gotten married. Tony and Katrina are awesome and I'm so excited for them. I did Katrina's hair which was really fun. Unfortunately, I don't have a pic of her, but she looked absolutely beautiful. They had dancing which was so fun especially since Gregg and I have awesome moves oh AND the very last song was 'The Luckiest', by Ben Folds which happens to be our song. It was great to share the whole day with them.

Demolition Derby

Thanks to our friend Jeff, we got tickets to go to the demolition derby in Coalville. Sorry about the bad pics, but I whined about that in the last post. I'm just going to put out there that I'm amazing at choosing the cars that will win. Maybe all of the car shows my dad took me to growing up is paying off. Haha, he would be so proud of my demo abilities.

Girl's Camp pt1

I'm a total slacker since it's been a while since girl's camp, but I have "misplaced" my camera so once I find it I will have more pictures of the experience. What an experience it was! It turned out to be awesome. Even the girls were saying it was the best one they've ever been to. It was different being a leader, but I must say much better. I kept getting mistaken for one of the girls by the stake leaders and told to get back to whatever they were doing at the time. I guess I should just take that as a compliment.

This is Herc as I was getting ready to leave. He's learned over the years when we're packing and putting bags next to the door that it's time to go to Idaho. So it wasn't a big surprise when I found him in the middle of everything waiting his turn to go to the car. You can tell it's early because he can hardly keep his eyes open.

Another leader and I decided we would just walk to the house we were leaving from and as you can see I had a lot of crap. Well, of course it was raining and I had the hardest time carrying everything anyway. We pretty much looked like idiots to all the early morning runners and I learned how out of shape I was.

*side note* I've calmed down from my last post, let's just say I have the temper the size of Texas these days from some meds and I was really irritated by a lady I came across.

Yes, I'm venting and No, you don't have to read it

Some people need to get off their high horse and figure out what's really important in life. THE END (okay I feel better, and yes maybe I should take my own advice sometimes)

24th in Park City

It is tradition every 24th of July to go to Park City for the Alexander bunch. Brett and Britt always have her parents condo that week and we get to go stay with them for the weekend. This year I packed right when I got home from girl's camp and headed on up. We had a great time!
