The day we saved Murray

Last night Gregg and I were at a meeting for our upcoming Youth Conference. We all met at the parkway for an activity we'll be doing there. As we were talking in a secluded place, three teenage boys came walking by holding a big jug of Arrowhead water. We all said hello to them and they said hello back, then they were on their way. Our meeting came to a close shortly after and we walked back to the path when all of the sudden a man with a dog came running up to us yelling "call 911 someone started a fire!" I didn't think much of it because we were just RIGHT there and it couldn't be anything big. Well sure enough we walked a yard or two and I could see flames blazing. The men all ran as fast as they could, while our young women's president called 911 (who put her on hold....hmph). I didn't know whether to run after the boys or help with the fire, then I realized I don't have much strength these days and the boys could out run me any day so I decided to help with the fire. I ran jumping over fallen logs to where the YCC (youth conference committee) were stomping on the fire and throwing dirt to smother it. I just started throwing dirt as fast as I could and surprisingly our combined efforts contained the fire until the fire fighters got there. The YCC were the only ones helping and everyone else just stood on the walk way and watched. I couldn't believe how fast everything just started burning. I told the YW president she must have been inspired to have the meeting there that night. Who knows how much more would have burned if we weren't there. Plus, most of our homes are really close to the parkway.

We described the boys to one of the parkway cops and he said a police man spotted one, but when he flipped a U-turn the boy ran in the trees. What STUPID boys! It gets me so angry just thinking about it. We're all thinking it wasn't "water" in their jug, but probably gasoline. It was an eerie feeling knowing someone could easily just start the beautiful parkway on fire. Especially when it is so close to our home!

Nonetheless, the firefighters told us to get back and we all left with adrenaline pumping and dirt all over our bodies. I called my mom right after to tell her we saved Murray City. haha.

A Lot to Blog About

So I posted a ton of new blogs and as you can see I've been all over the place this last week. I hope I've made up for my short dry spell. In other big news Brad and Tricia had their Baby Girl the day after I left for Island Park. I told Tricia the baby would come as soon as I left and I was right. She said she only wished I left sooner. After a little bit of a rough start they are both home and doing better. They named her Jocelyn Marie and she weighed 8lbs 11oz. She has a full head of hair and is absolutely gorgeous. I don't have any pictures at the moment, so I apologize about that. Life has been crazy, but I wont complain too much. It's been quite the rememberable summer so far. Oh and if you're all wondering why Gregg and I needed passports it's because we're going to France! Maybe when I'm not so tired I'll say more. It's good night for now....

Jones Family Campout 08'

Gregg and I were able to go to most of the family camp out this year and my niece Kelsey came too. She came home with me after Island Park and went home tonight. I was a little sad to see her go, but we had a great time while she was here. I'm too lazy to describe each picture, but there's some dancing, a couple of moosen, a Beavis and Butt head impersonator, and some all around good family fun. So there ya go. Enjoy!

Beary Sweet!

Okay, I know lame title, but I could resist. We didn't see any bears in the park so we stopped on our way out in West Yellowstone and payed to see them. They fed a couple of the bears right when we got there and it was really cool because I've never seen a bear so active before. The wolves were pretty lame, but Stacey was able to take a pic while one stood up for five seconds.

Cabin Fever

CAUTION! There is a bug going around called CABIN FEVER!
Causes: bunking in tight places, having several mosquito bites, too much sugar, too much sun.
Signs: loud laughter, distortion of face, crazy hair, no makeup, taking obnoxious pictures of ones self.

Yellowstone

We went to Yellowstone for the day while in Island Park and were able to see a baby buffalo. That was the highlight of the day. We were all pretty excited.

Mesa Falls

I had the opportunity to stay in Island Park with my family for a couple days this last week. The first day we all headed for a short ride to Mesa Falls. It was beautiful as you can see.

Fourth of July

We had a great Fourth of July this year! It started out with me being in the Murray Parade, which is always fun. I got to ride in the back of the pickup the whole time, which was super nice. Gregg, Brett, Britt, their girls, Bruce and Deb all came to watch. I felt like a super star! Okay, maybe just a Murray Star, but hey that's where David Archuleta got his start. Then we all headed for a not so good experience at Cracker Barrel. We'll have to try somewhere new next year. Then it was Ty and Lisa's for an awesome BBQ and we stayed for the Park City fireworks which were perfect. Since I have major withdrawel issues from the Rupert festivities Gregg and I decided to start our own traditions which are going two years strong now.
